Oh yes! May print that out and hang it on the wall in my tiny studio! Sometimes she may be getting on our nerves, but isn’t it wonderful to have such a muse, to have more ideas than we can usually put into practice?
It is great to have our muses! Mine actually has a great sense of humour. Not sure if the and doesn’t seem to mind me poking fun at her — in fact, she’s egging me on. You might not get a good print-out from the size file I have on here. But my tumblr has a pen-and-ink version, that would probably print out OK, and you could colour it yourself! Maybe I should make a muse colouring book! Uh-oh, she’s at it again…
Iris will inquire amongst her sisters to see if any of them are available and suitably ferocious. But she says that perhaps your current muse is merely bored and a little out of shape — give her a daily task with a deadline and that may perk her up! Muses need a workout, just like we do!
So fantastic!!! My favorite is when I am in the shower and have to run out dripping wet to find a pen and paper!!! It happens a lot!! Keep creating…just love your work. Lorrie
Thank goodness Iris lets me be when I’m in the shower! Her sister, Rhyme, however, is not always so polite, but luckily I have a good memory and can hold onto the verses until I dry off. How about keeping some kind of waterproof writing surface in the shower?
I remember hearing a story about how some government agency or other spent a lot of money trying to develop a waterproof pen for its divers to use — they ended up using pencils on some kind of waterproof synthetic paper!
THAT IS SO GREAT!!!! I can’t believe you found this. Apparently I am not the only person who hears my muse in the shower. No more running around dripping water everywhere!! Thanks Karen 🙂
so true! inspiration always calls when all you want to do is sleep!! the cat reminds me so much of the one in the last unicorn, only that one has a peg leg and an eye-patch!
In the Peter S. Beagle book? It’s been a long time since I read that, I’ll have to re-read it if that’s the one you mean. The cat is my cat Mak, and he has his own comic — it’s in the sidebar on my blog if you want to have a look. He’s the one that keeps me awake on the other end of the night!

Spam the cat sends purrrrs and says Iris looks like fun and Mak is incredibly fabulously feline as usual.

I have this vision of me being the cleanest, though shriveled up, writer in the universe if I find that paper!! Haha 🙂

Lorrie, look what I found! A way to write in the shower!(scroll about halfway down — it’s an article about creativity; it’s number 2 under the suggestions for getting creative)
