Browsing the Blogs — Cat Deficit Alert!

Tonight I finally got a chance to sit down and look at the blogs I’m following for the first time in a week — some fantastic stuff you’re doing, folks! I only tore myself away because I remembered it was time for my own daily post.

In reading through the blogs, I realized that there are more tempting challenges to participate in out there than I possibly have time for, though I may indulge in one or two anyway — I have trouble resisting these sorts of creative sidetracks. In the meantime, an informal challenge was issued by Hot off the Press:

And because we know some of you are keeping score, dogs once again got the best of cats, with 9,195 and 6,111 posts, respectively. Look out in February, though — the 192 posts on turtles suggest that there might be a new internet animal darling in town.

Are we cat lovers going to sit there and let these pooches overrun the blogosphere? “Nay”, says I! Or maybe that should be “Mrow!” — horses are another matter. And turtles! Really! How can their stolid, plodding, armoured existence compare with the lithe and lovely liveliness of cats? Oh, OK, sea turtles are pretty graceful, and they do have pretty markings, but — turtles!

So I challenge all you cat people out there (we are everywhere, we are myriad, and we are all mad, mad I say!) to put a cat in your post and then in your tags. You can let me know you did in the comments, or not. The important thing is the reputation and honour of cats!

My contribution: a series of cat paintings in acrylic. I did these for a line of cards and prints, which are no longer available, but I am investigating the possibilities of online print on demand distribution. Stay tuned for that. But now, here are some of my valiant cat friends, going out to confront the dogs and turtles of the internet.

    • Wow, Cee, Chris, and Sobha, thank you! What a nice surprise! So do I understand correctly — this award is a kind of personal award that the person/blog who is nominated receives just by accepting, and then passes it on to ten more people/blogs? And all ten people answer the questions that you posted at the bottom? And I assume I shouldn’t nominate you because you’ve already got it (not sure how many followers you’ve all got either)?

So, if I got all that right, I accept!

But, more questions — How do you get the little badge at the top, just drag and drop it to download? Do you just put it up as a regular post or a permanent page? It’s a great idea for networking, I’ll certainly check out the other folks!

  1. Gorgeous Cat art! I’ll admit I do like cats. .. They taste like chicken! Haha! 😀
To answer your award placement question. . It depends on where you want to put it. I put mine on my about page, so yes, media library, load like photo. If you want it on your page static (on front page) use a widget. Ill explain if you want me to…

    • Hm, yet another similarity between cats and snakes!
Thank you for the answer — very clear! I’m kinda-sorta starting to get all this blog-bells-n-whistles stuff; I’ve been trying out different things and reading the wordpress how-to blogs like mad! But this is one answer I didn’t have to track down, much appreciated!
